September Series
September 12, 19, 26; October 3
To begin the new program year, we welcome back Professor John Burgess from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. This time, he will come to us live from Germany, tell us about Christian life there today, and answer questions in the moment as well.
When Christians Become the Minority:
New Perspectives from the Land of the Reformation
John Burgess, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
Where Martin Luther initiated the Reformation is now one of the most secularized, non-Christian areas of the world. This series explores how Christians in Germany are learning to become a creative, hopeful minority in their society. We will see how their witness may inspire us in the United States, as we become a “post-Christian” society.
September 12 – “What It’s Like to Become the Minority When You Were Once the Majority”
September 19 – “What’s Been Lost and What Remains of Christian Culture”
September 26 – “Finding a Language for the Gospel in a Post-Christian Land”
October 3 – “The Special Hope That Christians Have”
John Burgess is professor of theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and is currently in Germany. For more than 40 years, he has been talking to German Christians about these questions. He is delighted to be a “reporter on the ground” for this Westminster series.
