Please join the Westminster Walkabouts on Sunday August 9 at 1 p.m. for a tour of the Meadowcroft Rockshelter lead by archaeologist Dr. Diane Beynon Landers. Dr. Landers, an original member of the 1974 excavation team led by Dr. James Adovasio, will lead a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Meadowcroft Rockshelter, a National Historic Landmark and the oldest known site of human habitation in North America. The tour begins with a captivating presentation by Dr. Landers as she unveils the fascinating story of the massive rock overhang that provided shelter to the region’s earliest inhabitants over 19,000 years ago. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore the Rockshelter with one of the original experts who uncovered its prehistoric secrets.
